bikes aren’t just for kids!

The Trutina Foundation is working to increase access to biking, in all forms.

Through continued exposure to the benefits of biking, the foundation supports the humble 2 wheels.

Did you know, in Upstate NY, there are hundreds of miles of bike trails. For recreational biking alone, the Erie Canal path, Mohawk-Hudson Bike trail, Cayuga-Seneca Trail and Lehigh Valley trail are a few great examples of accessible, easy-to-ride trails. These trails alone will have you visit a view you can’t get anywhere else through other transportation methods!

In many Upstate NY towns, there are BMX bike tracks. This sport, not traditionally found through schools or recreation centers, offers incredible opportunities for youth and adults to learn and grow in a fun and exciting sport.

At many tracks, a “league” program is also offered, providing first-time riders exclusive track time, coaching, and safety lessons. This league program allows riders to become more comfortable and significantly increases their confidence and growth.

Are you aware that riders as young as 2 can participate on non-pedal balance bikes?

Are you aware there is a girls’ classification for young women who want to compete?

Are you aware there is age-based competition, as well as skills-based levels, allowing any person of any age to pick up a bike and try BMX?
